Mental Health Law

Pennsylvania's Duty to Warn: Pennsylvania Social Workers and mental health professionals are mandated to do a 'duty to warn' when necessary. It is not 'regulated by state law' but is 'mandated' via prior court rulings. According to the Pennsylvania Psychologist Association the clinician needs to determine the urgency of risk to the potential victim, then decide whether s/he just warns the potential victim or also the police.
